Maggie Dolan is living the dream life as an attorney in Chicago when she gets a disturbing call that brings her back to her small hometown of Hidden Lake, Colorado. Her father, retired Sheriff Frank Dolan, has been seriously injured in a freak hunting accident caused by his own gun. The town’s new sheriff, Lily Tillane, has exhausted all leads, but Maggie decides to dig deeper. After Maggie learns that her father was meeting someone in the woods the day he was shot, she is violently attacked by an unknown assailant.
As she gets closer to breaking the case, she crosses paths with Zachary Roth, a journalist secretly on the payroll of a real estate developer with designs on Hidden Lake. Roth publicly accuses Sheriff Dolan of criminal conduct, but in a twist of events, he ultimately reveals the truth to Maggie. It turns out that her father’s closest friend, Judge Henry Landers, lost a lot of money after Dolan shut down a real estate developer’s illegal operation. The corrupt Landers will do everything in his power to destroy Dolan. Now Maggie must face the judge, or risk becoming his next victim.
